Why should your pooch come to Hydrohounds..?

Water Confidence, Buoyancy & Swimming Lessons

Build water confidence in all dogs of all ages. Over a series of sessions we will introduce your dog to swimming and normalise water as something safe and fun! We tap in to your dog’s individual motivations and build up their independence into making them confident swimmers whilst also working on their buoyancy.

Recovery & Rehabilitation

Whether a dog has undergone surgery or suffered an injury, we provide a low-impact environment that promotes muscle strengthening and joint flexibility. The buoyancy of water reduces the impact on joints, allowing dogs to exercise without placing excessive strain on their bodies.

Weight Management & Fitness

Obesity is a growing concern among dogs. Water resistance makes every movement more challenging, encourages the heart to work more efficiently, strengthening its muscles and enhancing blood flow. Therefore engaging muscles burning calories. This all helps your dog to maintain a healthy weight while also reducing the risk of obesity-related illnesses.

Arthritis Treatment

Hydrotherapy allows exercise to be conducted in a minimal weight bearing environment. This allows aerobic ability, muscle strength and range of motion to be improved/maintained while reducing the impact on painful joints.

Stress reduction & behavioural benefits

As with humans, water has a calming effect on many canines, making hydrotherapy an effective stress-relief tool. This is because the soothing properties of water create a positive and enjoyable experience for dogs, which can be especially beneficial for those with anxiety or behavioural issues.
